1951 – 2001: Mondaine Watch Ltd. celebrates its 50th anniversary
1954 – 2004: the 50th anniversary of the Mondaine brand
1983 – 2003: the 20th anniversary of the M-Watch brand
1993 – 2003: the 10th anniversary of the Camel Trophy license
International launch of the new “Camel Active” brand, the “Camel Trophy Adventure Watch”; Mondaine, Bally and Camel Active brands are successfully repositioned in the in-flight and travel retail segment. Mondaine’s Swiss Railway Watch is among the top-selling products in the on-board sales segment. Swiss Army (SABI/USA) and SiberHegner (Japan) join the distribution network.
Move to the new Mondaine House in Zurich. Extension and modernization of the logistics sites in Biberist (production, distribution center, repair and spare parts service) and Hong Kong. Implementation of state-of-the-art communications technologies and fully integrated computer software (Oracle).
Intensification of staff training, enhancement of knowledge, motivation and greater personal responsibility with a view to intensifying cooperation with trading partners to more fully utilize the benefits of the independent family-owned company; rationalization and consolidation of activities enable more customer-oriented service.
Introduction of just-in-time production (JIT) and direct supply of major national retail chains like Migros ex assembly due to effective sales data.
2/24/03: Mondaine and its exclusive distributor for Switzerland, retail chain Migros, celebrate the 20th anniversary of the launch of the M-Watch, with over 5 million M-Watches sold in Switzerland. Servicing of distribution channels is reinforced in key markets, in some countries with new distributors.
Starting in 2003, Mondaine takes over the distribution of its own brands in Germany.
Within the framework of an outsourcing concept, Mondaine performs not only production (Private Label) but also a range of logistics services for its customer. Thus, not only do third-party companies use the integrated software, but also the warehouse and international distribution center as well as Mondaine’s repair and spare parts service. The subsidiary in Hong Kong is integrated more strongly into the development and logistics process. Mondaine is awarded the “Award for innovative logistics 2003“ by the Swiss Association of Logistics for its efficient materials and manpower management system (JIT).
Starting in 2004, the offices and showrooms in Basle are located on the 28th floor of the trade fair tower “Messeturm”, and Mondaine maintains its presence at the trade fair with a Meeting Point in Hall 1.1/D61.
1950s
“Frank & Bernheim” is established for the importation and distribution of watches in Brazil; Registration of the Mondaine trademark; Acquisition by Mondaine of Neuchâtel SA, a small manufacturer of lever watches (400 per year) and Establishment of Constructa Watch Ltd to produce pin lever watches.
1960s
Foundation of “Remonta & Bernheim”; Construction of a factory in Biberist, CH to manufacture lever watches.
1970s
Development of digital watches (LED) with Hughes Aircraft; Development of world’s first digital watches with LCD with Brown Boveri and Hoffman la Roche; Launch of the world’s first consumer programmable LCD watches with microprocessor; Invention of solar quartz watch with both analog and digital displays.
1980s
Establishment of the Mondaine after-sales service network, named MISO - Mondaine International Service Organization; Development of the M-Watch within just 28 days and launch with Migros; New case constructions for water resistant watches with shaped glass - Swiss Aqua Stop System and Swiss Safety Bloc System; M-Watch world innovation: plastic watch without a metal pressure bezel; By the end of decade, two million M-Watches sold; Introduction of the Swiss Railway Watch and exclusive agreement with Swiss Railways for SBB logo and the title "Official, exclusive Swiss Railway watch"; Opening of the Hong Kong based Mondaine Swiss Watch (Far East) Ltd (Marketing, manufacturing, sourcing, QC).
1990s
Introduction of Mondaine brand watches on European markets; Development of world’s first post-consumer recycling watch - brass cases are produced entirely from recycled scrap metal; Acquisition of an exclusive license to make the German Intercity Express (ICE) watch and the Pingu children’s watch; Official timekeeper for Tour de Suisse 1992, 1993, 1994; Awarded German Design Plus 1993 prize for innovative design and ecological concept of Mondaine’s official Swiss Railway Watch; Honored by the Design Museum London (Sir Terence Conran's masterpiece); Mondaine acquires worldwide license for Camel Trophy Adventure Watches; Mondaine begins working with acclaimed artists and designers like Oscar winner HR Giger and renowned metal sculptor Bernhard Luginbühl; Swiss railway clock in main Zurich station “meeting point” bears the Mondaine trademark; Museum boutiques begin to carry watches from the Mondaine Design Line; MISO expands and those wearing the Camel Trophy, Mondaine or M-Watch brand get competent repair service in about 60 countries; Bally Shoe company signs agreement with Mondaine; Official timer at CSI equestrian event in Zurich, 1997-2000; License for Jean-Michel Cousteau watches.
